Roderick Spode:"Why wasn't Fink-Nottle at dinner?! Tell him I'm going to break his neck!"

Bertie Wooster:"Break his neck, right. And, if he should ask why?"

Roderick Spode: Because he's a butterfly who toys with women's hearts and throws them aside like soiled gloves.

A pair of gloves is a very personal accessory. Our made to order glove service allows you to express yourself, to create a pair of gloves that looks and feels the way you wish. The true joy of ordering custom gloves, is to choose some unique features, and then let the glove cutters and seamstresses do what they have been doing all their life, generation after generation.

We would like to remind our customers that true craftsmanship cannot be rushed, and ordering a pair of gloves is agreeing to a production time of anywhere between three and four weeks. To see the work involved in creating a pair of gloves, from stretching, marking and cutting out the leather, to slitting the fingers and stitching the glove together, we invite you to read our artisan page here.

To order your own unique pair of gloves, please have a look at the steps below and contact us at: contact@jeeves.store

MODEL

At the moment, Jeeves offers 4 different kinds of gloves. A casual glove type with wrist closure, a more formal version with or without press button, and 2 types of driving glove.

SIZING

Once you have chosen your desired model, determining the correct size is the second step in ordering a pair of gloves. Measure the circumference of your hand with a tape ruler, along the palm, just under your knuckles. Keep your hand slightly bend, and don’t measure your thumb. Please use the picture below as a reference.

Then, convert your size from inches, or centimetres, to your correct glove size. When in doubt, we advise to size down slightly. The same applies for our driving gloves, which serve the purpose of making it easier to grip your steering wheel thight and does require a snug fitting glove.

LEATHER

The most notable bespoke option is the type of leather. Jeeves offers three types of leather. Peccary, Carpincho and Reindeer. All leathers are sourced from direct producers, and are bought in by us from their country of origin. All trade in this leather is strictly regulated by CITES, an international treaty drawn up in 1973 that protects animals from extinction and illegal trade. As a manufacturer, we find this an important aspect of business.

Peccary: Peccary is a wild animal of the pig family, that lives in South and Central America. Since it is a wild animal, legally hunted by local farmers for everything from their meat to their skin, it is normal to find small natural defects on the surface of the skin. To learn more about this particular leather, and why the surface area of a hide is measured in 'hands' and not square meters, we invite you to read up on this here

Characterized by a distinct pattern of 3 pores, grouped togehter, it is known as the most luxurious gloving leather, thanks to its extreme softness and stretchiness. Peccary is known to develop a beuatiful patina.

Carpincho: Another indigenous animal to South America, Carpincho (or Capybara) breeding was first reported in Brasil as early as 1565. Capybara makes for a great gloving leather, since it is very heat resistant and more importantly, it has a one-way grain that allows the glove to only stretch in one direction, preventing it from becoming too loose or sloppy.

Carpincho almost always comes in its nubuck form, where the grain has been rubbed to give a suede look. Cutting this leather requires tremendous skill, to make sure the glove fits and feel right. To learn more about table cut gloves, please have a look here

Deerskin: Deerskin, originating from deer that inhabit the highest woods in Central and Northern Europe, is known for its softness, suppleness, and warmth. While it has a beautiful texture, it is important to remember that these deer grow up in natural conditions, and thus small marks and imperfections are inherent to this leather, giving it great charactere. Over time, deerskin will age beautifully.

LINING

There was a time gloves were worn for their aesthetics, an object simply meant to keep your hands free from dirt and look smart. Many customers still prefer direct contact with the leather. Today, gloves serve a more practical use as well, that of keeping your hands warm.  While you can choose from a wide range of linings, the choice is completely up to you.
